True luxury in private dining isn’t just about exquisite ingredients; it is about an unspoken understanding of nuance, discipline, and timing. When I launched Private Chefs Inc., I didn’t enter the space as an agency recruiter or corporate headhunter. My name is Christian Paier, and my foundation was forged entirely behind the stove, cooking at a Michelin-caliber standard.

That culinary path spanned high-pressure fine dining kitchens, private estates across Los Angeles, and intimate dinner parties from Paris and Bali to Dubai. Living that life teaches you things a conventional recruiter can never grasp: the relentless precision required to execute a flawless tasting menu, the intuition needed to read an estate principal’s mood, and the absolute discretion demanded inside the world’s most private homes.

Pioneering an Industry: The 1995 Shift

When I founded Private Chefs Inc. in 1995, the concept of a dedicated private chef agency simply did not exist.

By then, I had already spent several years working full-time as the private chef for a Hollywood-royalty household at their Bel Air estate. That experience gave me an unusual perspective: I understood both sides of the profession intimately. I knew the standards, discipline, and technical demands of the restaurant world, but I also understood firsthand the very different realities of working inside a private home—the discretion, flexibility, personality fit, and trust required to become part of a household.

In fact, the idea for Private Chefs Inc. began taking shape before there was ever an agency. The Hollywood-royalty family I worked for full-time in Bel Air had many A-list celebrities among their friends, and I began helping some of those celebrities find private chefs of their own. With my background in professional kitchens and my firsthand understanding of private household service, I was able to successfully match several of them with chefs before I ever considered opening an agency.

Those early placements made something very clear to me: there was a genuine need for someone who understood both exceptional culinary talent and the highly personal world in which private chefs actually work.

At the time, private households largely relied on general domestic staffing agencies that treated culinary talent like any other household role. I knew from experience that finding an exceptional private chef required much more than matching a résumé to a job description. It required a chef’s understanding of technique and talent, combined with firsthand knowledge of private household dynamics.

That became the foundation of Private Chefs Inc. By creating the world’s first agency devoted exclusively to private chefs, we introduced a specialized approach to an industry that had never had one. For the next twenty years, Private Chefs Inc. remained the sole agency specializing purely in private culinary talent. We didn’t simply enter an existing market—we helped define it.

A Global Footprint: From U.S. Estates to Royal Palaces

That category-defining focus quickly earned the trust of the world’s most discerning principals. Nationally, Private Chefs Inc. expanded to establish a formidable footprint across six U.S. offices in key luxury markets. Internationally, our reach extended into the highest corridors of global hospitality—placing elite culinary teams inside royal palaces and sovereign households across the Middle East, from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, and as far as the royal palaces of Brunei.

To support our clients’ international lives, we established dedicated hubs in London and Hong Kong, operating both locations successfully for a decade. While global shifts during the pandemic led us to strategically streamline operations and consolidate domestically, our international network has never waned.

Over the past thirty years, we have meticulously built and actively maintained a proprietary talent network of more than 2,000 elite private chefs worldwide. That includes over 1,000 vetted culinary professionals across the United States, alongside an international roster of more than 1,000 chefs spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East. This unparalleled global bench serves as our operational backbone as we prepare to relaunch our dedicated London office in the spring of 2027, with strategic plans to establish an on-the-ground presence in Dubai in the future.

The Creative Voice: Directing the Narrative

Today, that same hands-on dedication drives every piece of storytelling across our brand.

We don’t outsource our voice. Every editorial article in our Estate Journal, every in-depth interview with industry tastemakers, and all 43 episodes of our filmed podcast series are personally conceptualized, written, and directed by me—from shaping the initial narrative arc to collaborating closely on the fine editing.

Whether I am matching an estate with their ideal long-term chef, exploring bespoke tabletop design with visionaries like Mona Steck, or documenting fifteen years of dinner party memories across the globe, the underlying purpose remains unchanged: celebrating culinary excellence, honoring the craft of hospitality, and setting the standard for how the world entertains.
