Family of six (2 adults and 4 school age children) seeking a LIVE OUT private chef for their home in NYC.
SCHEDULE: Monday -Thursday –four days per week
MEALS: Lunch for one, maybe once a week. Focus is on family dinners each day around 6pm.
CUISINE: Healthy, farm to table cuisine. Styles include mainly American and other styles all to be discussed with chef. Tree nut and sesame allergy to be considered.
The home will be stocked by the household staff with all kitchen staples. The chef may be purchasing required proteins and produce, or any extras as needed. The chef will prepare, serve and leave the kitchen clean before departing for the day.
VACATION: The family vacations approximately 2 weeks each, during school breaks such as Christmas and Spring break usually without the chef. In the summer they go to 2 locations on the East coast, one in July and another in August. It would be optional for the chef to accompany the family for the summer period. If mutually agreed upon and chef is accompanying, chef will be provided with housing.
COMPENSATION: Employer is open to day rates with a 4 day per week commitment or yearly salary which can include healthcare either through employer’s company or via stipend. Payment can be as independent contractor or salaried. All to be negotiated. If “on salary” chef would take vacation during family vacation periods. Terms of employment to be discussed and are flexible to benefit all parties.
ENTERTAINING: once per month for a small dinner party. More elevated cuisine would be enjoyed.
The ideal chef is happy to work in a family environment and able to connect nicely with children in the home. Someone who can step it up for the occasional dinner party would be great but not a deal breaker if you’re more of a family chef. Travel with family (if offered) is optional.
