Great opportunity for someone with some private household work wanting to further their private sector employment with work in a formal household.

Position can be “live out” if candidate lives within a 30 MINUTE commutable distance

This position requires regular evening and weekend work, some heavy lifting, and walking up and down stairs. Chef reports to the Residence and Events Manager.

 SCHEDULE: 5 days per week with flexibility since guests to the residence determine weekly scheduling. Chef work week is 40 hours with overtime paid at regular rate or “time off in lieu of” given, for work over 40 hours.

HOUSING: choice of 2 apartments in the residence. Both have min 2 bedrooms with private bath, living area and kitchen, private entrance. One apartment may have 3 bedrooms.

The Chef position will cater for official events located at the Ambassador’s residence and the Embassy.

The position is full time employed directly by the Ambassador.  Working within a small team and under limited supervision, the successful applicant must be able to work collaboratively and is responsible for all aspects of food purchase, preparation, delivery and expenditure reporting in relation to official events.

Some daily meals may be required but mostly, work is for representative events held at residence or embassy for guest relations.

The Chef APPLICANT should be proficient across a broad range of culinary skills, with knowledge of different cuisines, specialty ingredients, baking and patisserie. Any corporate experience would also be a big plus. i.e hotel, corporation, country club etc.   

Chef will be responsible for  providing innovative menu design that showcases said country’s produce, food innovations and the diverse culinary aspects of said country’s culture. Chef will also assist in the preparation of the residence for events (movement/rearranging of furniture, coordination of decorations, general presentation); Assist in greeting guests, banquet waiting and wine service; Speaking on country’s culinary culture and menu offerings as requested by the Ambassador and/or guests.

COMPENSATION: SALARY, PLUS OTHER BENEFITS INCLUDE:
