Family of six (2 adults and 4 children ages 18, 16, 10, 8) seeking a full-time chef for their home on the UES and their alternate home in Southampton NY. Eldest child in college and Mr. travels so meals are mostly for 1 adult and 3 children.
SCHEDULE: 5 days per week Monday through Friday. Some weekend days and some holiday weekends may be required, otherwise Saturday Sunday off.
MEALS: Breakfast 630 am, Lunch and early Dinner. Workday ends around 7pm. Generous afternoon break.
Staff includes 1-2 housekeepers—meals for staff usually only when traveling and staff accompanies.
CUISINE: all styles enjoyed from American to Chinese. They enjoy the quality of high-end cuisine styles and frequent Nobu and Daniel etc. but do not require the plated presentation. Children will mostly eat same as adults, but care needed to keep it simple, less saucy when necessary and food elements not co-mingling on the plate. Typical children’s preferences. Personal preferences can be identified before a trial. In general, no swordfish and mushrooms. No allergies are known. Special attention to portions and not wasting food.
Entertaining: very infrequent
TRAVEL: Family has alternate home in Southampton which is mostly utilized in summer from mid-June to Labor day. Trips to European destinations throughout the year to the UK, Scotland, Spain and others. In Southampton chef will have private room and bath with kitchenette in guest quarters over garage. Vehicle is available for any errands or shopping. Transportation and housing will be provided for any travel to European destinations.
Ideal chef has excellent culinary skills, lives close by family’s permanent home on UES in NYC, enjoys traveling abroad and open for summers in Southampton NY.
